Abidjan is preparing for a significant event as the 2026-2027 coffee and cocoa campaign officially commences on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This launch coincides with the 10th edition of the National Cocoa and Chocolate Days (JNCC), a major gathering scheduled to take place at the Abidjan Exhibition Park, where crucial farm-gate prices for the upcoming season will be unveiled.
The highly anticipated new prices are expected to be announced by Vice-President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, who will deliver the declaration on behalf of President Alassane Ouattara.
Looking back at the previous season, the main campaign for 2025-2026, which spanned from October 2025 to February 2026, saw a record farm-gate price set at 2,800 FCFA per kilogram. However, the subsequent intermediate campaign, running from March to August 2026, experienced a reduction, with prices adjusted to 1,200 FCFA per kilogram. This adjustment reflected a downturn in international cocoa market rates.
Côte d’Ivoire maintains its position as the world’s leading cocoa producer, contributing an estimated 40% to the global supply.
National production for the 2025-2026 campaign reached approximately 2.2 million tonnes. This period was notably characterized by significant volatility in exports and the state’s intervention to repurchase around 123,000 tonnes of residual cocoa beans amidst a temporary slowdown in global market commercialization.
As we look towards the 2026-2027 campaign, projections for production may face challenges from climatic constraints and the increasing age of existing plantations. Some market forecasts indicate a potential decrease in Ivorian production, possibly settling around 1.8 million tonnes.
