Gabon’s digital leap: Kimba Connect 2026 drives innovation and business growth

Gabon’s Ministry of Digital Economy and the Federation of Gabonese Enterprises (FEG) have launched Kimba Connect 2026, the nation’s first national open innovation challenge. Held at the headquarters of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) in Libreville, the initiative bridges the gap between businesses facing digital transformation hurdles and local startups ready to deliver tailored digital solutions.

At its core, the program functions as an open call for challenges, where companies present their key obstacles and startups respond with innovative project proposals. The most promising submissions will receive tailored mentorship to refine, develop, and implement their solutions, transforming real-world business needs into actionable growth opportunities.

Interested participants have until midnight on Tuesday, July 14, to submit their entries. A rigorous pre-selection phase will take place on July 24, culminating in a grand finale event scheduled for August 4, 2026.

Mark Alexandre Doumba, Gabon’s Minister of Digital Economy, emphasized the program’s mission: “True innovation derives its value from solving tangible problems.” He highlighted how Kimba Connect 2026 will empower Gabonese startups by giving them direct market access and enhanced visibility, while enabling traditional enterprises to turn their digital transformation challenges into strategic opportunities.

Driving digital transformation through collaboration

The initiative aligns with Gabon’s broader national strategy to accelerate digital transformation and nurture homegrown innovation. By fostering collaboration between the private sector and young tech ventures, the program seeks to:

  • Promote open innovation and cross-sector partnerships;
  • Accelerate the country’s digital modernization agenda;
  • Showcase the expertise of Gabonese talent in technology and innovation;
  • Enhance the economic competitiveness of local businesses.

By creating a structured platform for dialogue and co-creation, Kimba Connect 2026 aims to unlock new avenues for economic diversification, support entrepreneurial growth, and position Gabon as a regional leader in digital innovation.
