Lfp rejects olympique lyonnais’ request to postpone opening ligue 1 match

Olympique Lyonnais sought to delay their inaugural Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse, originally scheduled for August 22, 2026. The Rhône club’s request stemmed from a potential Champions League playoff commitment, which would arise if they successfully navigate the third preliminary round of Europe’s premier club competition.

The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has, however, denied this application. The opening weekend of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 campaign is set to unfold between August 21 and 23, with Lyon slated for an away encounter in Toulouse.
