The United States and Bénin have once again underscored their vital strategic alliance in defense matters. A significant meeting recently took place at the Pentagon, bringing together General Christopher J. Mahoney, the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Beninese Armed Forces.

Discussions centered on crucial joint security initiatives and the ongoing military assistance provided by Washington, particularly through the U.S. Africa Command (Africom). Both high-ranking officials highlighted the indispensable role of a stable, secure, and democratic Bénin in fostering peace across the wider West Africa region.

They jointly pledged to intensify their military cooperation and to work closely with other regional partners. This concerted effort aims to effectively counter emerging transnational threats and ensure enduring stability for the long term, reinforcing the commitment of the US Bénin security partnership.
