Thierno Alassane Sall maintained that the head of government was made aware of the irregularities surrounding the administration of the Agence sénégalaise d’électrification rurale (ASER) at an early stage. In his communication, the parliamentarian declared that “Ousmane Sonko’s responsibility is now overwhelming,” further stating, “The document circulating for several days confirms that the Prime Minister was informed, as early as August 2024, of the alleged diversion of the start-up advance, a portion of which was visibly used to pay SONAC bonuses, according to the minister.”
The deputy also sharply criticized the government’s response to the warnings issued regarding this matter, prior to any intervention by financial partners or regulatory bodies. In his text, Thierno Alassane Sall posed a pointed question: “Not only did Prime Minister Sonko disregard this alert, but he also orchestrated an omerta by declaring ‘zero ASER scandal.’ To cover for whom?”
Furthermore, the parliamentarian highlighted that the leak of this correspondence “reinforces the qualification of criminal association, as targeted by the Financial Judicial Pool,” affirming that “this affair represents a crucial test for the judiciary and for the ‘Jub Jubal Jubbanti’ commitment widely proclaimed by the executive.”
