President Romuald Wadagni’s working visit to Lomé strengthens Benin-Togo ties
On Wednesday, Romuald Wadagni, President of the Republic of Benin, arrived in Lomé for a working visit. This visit marks a significant step in deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Benin and Togo.
Upon landing at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, the Beninese head of state was greeted by Togo’s Prime Minister, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé. The meeting focused on key regional priorities, including shared development goals, regional integration, and sub-regional stability.
This engagement is part of a broader regional tour initiated by President Wadagni following his inauguration on May 24. It underscores Lomé’s pivotal role as a hub for political dialogue and diplomatic coordination in West Africa.
A formal welcome in Lomé
A ceremonial reception awaited the visiting president at the airport. High-ranking officials, including government ministers, lawmakers, and representatives from traditional and customary authorities in Greater Lomé, were present to honor the occasion.

Beyond the official proceedings, the visit highlights the shared determination of both nations to bolster their partnership in critical areas. Discussions will cover trade, infrastructure development, security, energy, and the facilitation of movement for people and goods between the two countries.
