Burkina Faso hosts interafrican insurance brokers ahead of Ouagadougou assembly

Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo met today with a high-level delegation from the Inter-African Federation of Insurance Brokers (FIAC), led by Acting President Vakaramoko Samaké. The meeting centered on the upcoming 16th Annual General Assembly, scheduled for June 10-13, 2026, in Ouagadougou.

The event, themed “The pivotal role of insurance brokers in expanding access and deepening market penetration”, positions brokers as catalysts for financial inclusion across the region.

Delegates from 14 CIMA (Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets) member countries, along with representatives from Guinea and Ghana, will converge in the Burkinabe capital. Following the audience, Acting President Samaké praised the Prime Minister’s commitment to sponsoring the assembly.

«Today, insurance brokers drive economic growth and job creation in our nations. This assembly marks a turning point, with financial inclusion as the cornerstone of our collective efforts», Samaké noted.

The Prime Minister welcomed the choice of Ouagadougou as host city, calling it «a testament to regional solidarity». He added, «Despite external criticism, our nation advances steadily. Economic indicators confirm our progress across multiple sectors».

The Prime Minister emphasized the assembly’s thematic relevance, aligning with government priorities. «Insurance is now indispensable—from urban centers to rural areas, where climate insurance is gaining ground. This reflects the broadening of risks and the urgent need for coverage».

Reaffirming the government’s backing for brokers as tools of resilience, he concluded, «Rest assured of our full collaboration. Implement your recommendations and remain aligned with global trends».

The audience underscores Burkina Faso’s resolve to position insurance brokers as key drivers of economic recovery and resilience.
