The National Police of Chad has unveiled the identities of 29 individuals taken into custody during recent operations in N’Djamena. These suspects, detained between May 15 and June 1, 2026, are accused of a range of serious offenses that threaten public safety.
Coordinated security operations lead to multiple arrests
General Mahamat Idriss, head of Chad’s national police, confirmed the successful conclusion of joint operations targeting criminal networks in the capital. These efforts involved multiple units: the Intelligence Cell, Public Security Commissariats, Central Directorate of Intelligence and Investigations, and the Ngueli border police post. The coordinated action resulted in the detention of 29 suspects allegedly involved in various crimes.
Charges span a wide spectrum of criminal activity
The suspects face charges including arms trafficking and conspiracy, criminal association, simple and aggravated theft, armed robbery, vehicle break-ins, and illegal entry into the country. Following standard interrogation procedures, the detainees were categorized into four distinct groups based on the specific nature of their alleged crimes.

- Motorcycle thefts committed with accomplices
- Theft of electronic devices, gold, textiles, and construction materials
- Pickpocketing incidents
