Morocco and the United Kingdom have set an ambitious goal to double their bilateral trade volumes while deepening investment ties, leveraging the momentum generated by major infrastructure initiatives tied to the 2030 FIFA World Cup and other transformative projects.
During a high-level business forum in Rabat, Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour and British Minister of State for International Trade Chris Bryant jointly emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations. Bryant, leading a delegation of UK government officials and private sector representatives, stressed that the 2030 World Cup represents more than a sporting event—it serves as a catalyst for infrastructure modernization, economic growth, and long-term legacy development across Morocco.
Mezzour highlighted how the 2030 World Cup is being integrated into Morocco’s broader eight-year national development plan, which aims to upgrade transportation networks, healthcare facilities, and public utilities nationwide. The initiative goes beyond hosting duties, positioning the country as an emerging hub within global value chains, particularly by opening opportunities for international collaboration in key sectors.
Addressing British business leaders at the forum, Mezzour invited UK companies to participate in Morocco’s public procurement programs and large-scale transformation projects. He underscored the shift from mere technology transfers to sustainable partnerships built on investment, innovation, and enhanced competitiveness. The event, held in Rabat and Casablanca on June 2–3, brought together nearly 50 UK firms specializing in infrastructure, transport, security, engineering, design, and professional services.
