Nantes handed a closed-door match following pitch invasion during final Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse

French football’s governing body, the LFP disciplinary committee, has imposed a one-match stadium closure and a two-game closure of the Loire stand following supporter unrest during Nantes’ final Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse.
FC Nantes has avoided point deductions to start its Ligue 2 campaign. Instead, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) disciplinary panel handed down a firm sanction: one closed-door match at the Stade de la Beaujoire, coupled with a two-match closure of the Loire stand. The committee also confirmed the match score at the time of abandonment (0-0) from the May 17 fixture against Toulouse.
Pitch invasion triggers disciplinary response
Before the final whistle of the 34th and concluding matchday of Ligue 1, Nantes supporters invaded the pitch, sparking disorder in protest of the club’s relegation to the second division. The referee halted the game immediately.
Sanctions confirmed, club prepares for new season
The disciplinary body opted against harsher penalties such as point deductions, allowing Nantes to begin its Ligue 2 journey without immediate competitive disadvantages. The sanctions reflect the seriousness of the incident while avoiding the most severe consequences.
