Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended its European title, triumphing over Arsenal in the Champions League final on Saturday, May 30. The intense match saw both clubs locked in a stalemate, ultimately decided by a dramatic penalty shootout.

Just one year after their victory in Munich, Paris Saint-Germain once again claimed the Champions League title, defeating Arsenal this Saturday, May 30, in Budapest.
A nail-biting encounter
The match began with a challenging start for the Parisian side, as Arsenal scored a goal just five minutes after kick-off.
Trailing throughout the first half, it took until the 64th minute for the Parisians to equalize at 1-1, thanks to a successful penalty conversion by French Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé.
Fans from both clubs held their breath until the very end; neither the 90 minutes of regular time nor the 30 minutes of extra time could separate PSG and Arsenal. Ultimately, it was a tense penalty shootout that secured Paris Saint-Germain’s second consecutive triumph with the coveted trophy.
A truly legendary triumph
The Parisian club etched its name into history by claiming a second consecutive European star. Prior to this achievement, only Real Madrid, under the leadership of Zinédine Zidane, had managed to win the Champions League twice in a row during the competition’s modern era, even securing three titles from 2016 to 2018.
Shifting focus to the World Cup
Six French players who participated in this 71st Champions League final – Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé from PSG, alongside William Saliba from Arsenal – will now join the French National Team at Clairefontaine to prepare for the upcoming Football World Cup. A friendly match is scheduled for this Thursday, June 4, in Nantes, at the Stade de la Beaujoire, against Côte d’Ivoire.
