The Truth Behind Pastef’s Crisis: Dr. Abdourahmane Diouf Speaks Out

Dr. Abdourahmane Diouf, the Minister of Energy and Petroleum and a founding member of KIIRAAY – Les Patriotes Républicains, recently spoke candidly about the crisis within Pastef and its implications for the country’s leadership.

In an exclusive interview on Radio Sénégal Internationale (RSI), Dr. Diouf attributed the rift between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko to the party’s internal contradictions.

‘The president has always been consistent and faithful in his approach,’ Dr. Diouf said. ‘It’s Pastef and its leader who have decided to isolate him and betray him, rendering his mandate ungovernable.’

Dr. Diouf argued that President Faye had taken responsibility for the situation after discovering the betrayal of his political partners, including Ousmane Sonko.

‘Pastef cannot be the source of this betrayal while also criticizing the president for being disloyal,’ Dr. Diouf said. ‘It’s a contradiction.’

Dr. Diouf also addressed the issue of former government officials who have been making allegations against President Faye, urging them to stop their recriminations.

‘They chose to leave the government without any exclusion being imposed on them,’ Dr. Diouf said. ‘They took away the president’s majority in parliament, which was necessary for his policies and vision.’

Dr. Diouf also expressed support for President Faye’s re-election bid, citing a conviction that had motivated the creation of a new party.

‘The truth is, there are internal contradictions within Pastef,’ Dr. Diouf said. ‘Its leaders struggle to align themselves with their own leader while giving lessons in morality.’
