Kjell Scherpen is set to join Ipswich Town in the English Premier League, according to Algemeen Dagblad. The Belgian goalkeeper will undergo a medical before signing a four-year deal worth over $12 million.
Scherpen had an impressive season with Union Saint-Gilloise, winning both the Croky Cup and the Golden Glove award for most clean sheets. His transfer has generated significant interest from Italian, German, and English clubs.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper was signed by Brighton & Hove Albion in 2021 from Ajax for $5 million. However, he failed to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
Scherpen had previously spent time on loan with KV Ostende, Vitesse, and Sturm Graz before joining Union Saint-Gilloise permanently in 2025. He will now look to establish himself as a key player at Ipswich Town.
Ipswich has also strengthened their squad by signing Kayne van Oevelen from FC Volendam. The Dutch goalkeeper will compete with Christian Walton for the number one spot.
