The recent diplomatic mission to Rabat by the British Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, has cemented a significant advancement in bilateral relations. This visit highlights a commitment to deep cooperation, positioning the United Kingdom and Morocco as vital strategic partners.
Viewing Morocco as a premier destination for investment and growth, London intends to double the current volume of bilateral trade within the next five to seven years. Chris Bryant shared this ambitious vision during his stay in the capital.
Following high-level discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Bryant noted that trade between the two nations presently reaches approximately £4.5 billion. He emphasized the clear objective to see this figure double in the near future.
Beyond commerce, the United Kingdom is eager to support Morocco in hosting major global sports events, specifically the 2030 World Cup. To facilitate this, Bryant was accompanied by a delegation of roughly fifty British firms specializing in large-scale international sports infrastructure and management. This collaboration was a focal point of the Moroccan-British Business Forum held on June 2 and 3, 2026.
Furthermore, both nations are set to convene the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council to deepen their institutional and economic ties.
