Bénin’s national assembly welcomes new deputy françois silibi

François Silibi officially commenced his duties at the National Assembly this Friday, July 10, 2026. He steps into the parliamentary seat previously held by Louis Vlavonou, who transitioned to the Senate as an ex-officio member, a position he assumed due to his prior role as President of the National Assembly.

The formal installation ceremony for the newly appointed deputy occurred following a plenary session held at the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo earlier today.

Born in 1982, François Silibi is an accomplished English teacher. Hailing from Ifangni, the same hometown as his predecessor Louis Vlavonou, Silibi is now set to represent this constituency within the 10th legislature. With this official induction, François Silibi assumes his role as a deputy in the National Assembly, completing the remainder of the term left vacant by Louis Vlavonou, which is scheduled to conclude in February 2033.

As the designated alternate for the former President of the National Assembly, François Silibi has now officially taken his oath as a parliamentarian. His entry into the legislative body follows the resignation of the retired customs agent, Louis Vlavonou, who is slated to join the upper house of parliament as an ex-officio member starting July 30.
