Chad assesses two-year progress of president’s agenda

N’Djaména — From June 2 to 5, the Government of Chad convened a technical validation workshop in the capital to assess the two-year progress of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s political agenda. Organized by the General Secretariat of the Government, the event brought together officials, experts, and stakeholders to review a comprehensive biennial report covering the period from May 2024 to May 2026.

The workshop, held at the Radisson Blu hotel, marked a critical milestone in evaluating the implementation of key government initiatives. Dr. Ramatou Mahamat Outouin, Minister-Secretary General of the Government, opened the session with a keynote address emphasizing the workshop’s significance beyond mere documentation. She framed it as an essential exercise in accountability and transparency, designed to measure the government’s progress in fulfilling its promises to the Chadian people.

« This gathering is not just about reviewing a report; it’s about assessing where we stand in delivering on our commitments to the nation, » she stated. Dr. Mahamat Outouin underscored the President’s vision, which prioritizes transparent governance, public service transformation, and close alignment with citizen priorities. She highlighted the need to strengthen public trust in institutions through honest, data-driven evaluation.

The minister also paid tribute to the teams behind the report’s compilation, acknowledging their dedication and precision. « Every figure and indicator in this document reflects the hard work of individuals committed to accuracy and humility, » she noted. While she acknowledged the challenges of such evaluations, she stressed their necessity in identifying achievements and addressing shortcomings.

« This is not an exercise in self-congratulation; it’s an opportunity for collective reflection, » she remarked, urging participants to critically assess progress while remaining mindful of unmet expectations. She referenced the diverse needs of Chadian citizens—farmers, educators, entrepreneurs—and emphasized that government efforts must ultimately translate into tangible benefits for the population. Her closing remarks reinforced the dual technical and human dimensions of the process, calling for rigor and responsibility in finalizing the report. « This document must capture a true reflection of both our achievements and the work still ahead, » she concluded, formally launching the workshop’s proceedings.
