Côte d’Ivoire recognized for agricultural policies at African economic awards

Abidjan, May 22, 2026 – The pan-African platform Les Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine has unveiled its 20th anniversary awards, honoring African nations for their public policies and sectoral achievements that have driven economic and social progress across the continent.

Innovative public policies take center stage

The special edition introduces a new category to highlight countries that have made significant strides in key sectors through effective governance and strategic initiatives. A panel of independent experts and African journalists evaluated submissions based on policy impact, economic performance, sectoral advancements, and contributions to continental integration.

2026 laureates: Leaders in transformation

The award ceremony celebrated nations recognized for their outstanding contributions. The Democratic Republic of the Congo earned distinction in mining, while the Côte d’Ivoire was praised for its agricultural policies. The Seychelles received recognition for education, training, and employment initiatives, and Morocco was honored in both healthcare and environmental sustainability.

The Egypt was commended for infrastructure development, the Kenya for technological innovation and artificial intelligence, and Algeria for its energy sector progress. South Africa was acknowledged for industrial and service sector growth, while Tanzania was celebrated for tourism and hospitality. Nigeria received accolades for its creative and cultural industries, and Namibia was distinguished for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The Ghana earned a special award for its diaspora engagement and regional integration efforts, and Morocco was granted the 20th anniversary prize for its comprehensive national transformations.

Visionary leadership drives the awards

Michel Russel Lohoré, founder of Les Bâtisseurs de l’Économie Africaine, emphasized that the initiative aims to spotlight not only businesses and economic figures but also the public policies and national strategies that foster sustainable economic growth across Africa.

Valentin Mbougueng, jury president and international affairs specialist, noted that the selection process incorporated rankings from global and regional organizations, specialized publications, and the firsthand expertise of jury members.

Celebrating excellence in Abidjan

The laureates will be formally honored at a gala event on June 18 in Abidjan, marking two decades of celebrating Africa’s economic builders. Since its inception in 2006, the platform has recognized institutions, investors, and enterprises committed to the continent’s development.
