Dakar mayor abass fall criticizes indiscipline after ousmane sonko’s early exit

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko made an early departure from the patriotic pedestrian walk held on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Organized by Dakar Mayor Abass Fall, the event was themed “the march towards 2029.”

Reports from the scene indicated that the head of government was unable to complete the march alongside other participants, citing significant crowd control issues and an overall lack of order.

This situation drew sharp criticism from Dakar Mayor Abass Fall, who openly condemned the indiscipline displayed by some attendees.

“We face a genuine challenge,” the Mayor asserted. “We cannot invite a high authority here only for participants to behave without discipline. This is unacceptable. We gathered for a walk, so why can’t people maintain order? Consequently, he had to leave.”

When questioned by a journalist about the strong affection shown by militants towards Ousmane Sonko, Abass Fall responded decisively: “Affection must be accompanied by intelligence. One must be intelligent. This truly presents a significant issue!”
