The Permanent Secretary of Gabon’s National Climate Council, Fabrice Ntchango, is representing the country at a high-level regional workshop in Dakar, Senegal. The event focuses on accelerating the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) with a strong emphasis on rural electrification as a catalyst for energy transition.
Gabon’s participation underscores its unwavering commitment to climate action on the African stage. During the workshop, Ntchango is engaging with peers from across the continent to exchange best practices, explore innovative financing mechanisms, and identify actionable pathways to meet climate targets under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Rural electrification: a strategic priority
The workshop places rural electrification at the forefront of discussions, positioning it as a cornerstone for turning climate commitments into tangible, scalable projects. By connecting energy access with sustainable development, participating nations aim to design interventions that directly improve livelihoods in underserved rural communities.
Gabon’s leadership in integrated climate solutions
The Gabonese delegation, led by the National Climate Council, is actively contributing to the dialogue. The country brings forward a vision that harmonizes environmental responsibility with socio-economic progress, advocating for energy solutions that are both inclusive and impactful.
Strengthening regional collaboration
This gathering reflects Gabon’s dedication to regional cooperation, fostering knowledge-sharing and collaborative frameworks to advance climate resilience. Participants are working toward finalizing project proposals and securing funding avenues that will translate policy into on-the-ground results.
The outcomes of this workshop will shape the next phase of climate action, ensuring that commitments made in NDCs evolve into real, measurable progress across West and Central Africa.
