In a decisive move by Gabon’s Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Augustin Emane, Dr. Eddy Narcisse Minang, the country’s Prosecutor General near the Court of Appeal in Libreville, has been provisionally suspended from his duties for a period of three months. The suspension, issued under order number 000007/MJGSCDH on June 9, 2026, comes as he faces serious allegations of involvement in an opaque influence network linked to multiple scandalous cases.
The decision follows an extensive interrogation session held at the Republic’s Presidency, where Minang was questioned for several hours. This administrative measure ensures the continuity of public service, with the interim role immediately assigned to Thalie Aubone Nguema Edjo, a fellow magistrate of equivalent rank.
What led to the suspension of Gabon’s top prosecutor?
The suspension stems from strong suspicions of interference and obstruction of justice. At the center of the controversy are two major financial disputes. The first involves the Gabonese company Covec Gabon, mired in a controversy totaling 4 billion CFA francs. The second, and more explosive, revolves around the Central Directorate of Financial Affairs (DCAF) within the Ministry of National Education.
This latter case, made public in early June 2026 by the Libreville First Instance Court Prosecutor Dick Fabrice Boungou Mikolo, exposed widespread overbilling practices. Around twenty officials have been detained in connection with financial damages estimated between 560 and 700 million CFA francs. Minang is accused of leveraging his influence to disrupt ongoing investigations, allegedly due to personal ties with the DCAF director, both hailing from the Woleu-Ntem region.
