Between July 4 and 9 in Anéfis, Mali, the national army, with support from Russian African Corps units, engaged in intense combat against terrorist factions. In the aftermath of this clash, a wave of misinformation emerged, targeting the French armed forces—despite their official withdrawal from Mali in August 2022. False narratives attempted to suggest that a French soldier had allegedly fought alongside rebels from the Front de libération de l’Azawad and the Groupe de soutien à l’islam et aux musulmans.
