The two-day working visit by the Malagasy delegation focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration. During the official audience at the Palais de la Renovation, President Oligui Nguema and his counterpart discussed key strategies to enhance institutional ties and shared governance models.
A highlight of the visit was a special briefing led by Professor Guy Rossatanga-Rignault, who outlined Gabon’s recent transition journey and the constitutional principles guiding its return to democratic governance. President Oligui Nguema emphasized Gabon’s commitment to supporting Madagascar’s ongoing efforts to restore and strengthen its institutions.
In response, Colonel Randrianirina expressed his admiration for Gabon’s governance framework, signaling Madagascar’s intention to draw lessons from its neighbor’s experience in state-building and institutional resilience. The leaders concluded their meeting by praising the robust and mutually beneficial relationship between Gabon and Madagascar.
It is worth noting that Madagascar’s current leadership assumed power in October 2025 following widespread youth-led protests triggered by severe shortages of water and electricity under former President Andry Rajoelina’s administration.
