Waly Diouf Bodian, a senior figure within Pastef, has fired back at recent comments made by Professor Mary Teuw Niang concerning verbal aggression and the importance of respect in public discourse. The political activist takes issue with the former Higher Education minister’s apparent lack of consistency, particularly in light of earlier attacks directed at Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko.
Bodian flatly rejects the academic’s calls for restraint and questions his institutional stance. “After calling President Ousmane Sonko an impostor, Mary Teuw Niang now presumes to lecture us on the evils of verbal violence and the need to respect others. It is far too late for that, Professor,” Bodian asserted. He went further, stating, “Your Sunday literary musings no longer resonate with us patriots. We do not respect those who show no respect for Ousmane Sonko.” In a final jab, Bodian accused Niang of having abandoned the nation’s core values in favour of aligning himself with those in power.
