Belgian international Senne Lammens has been deservedly honored for his exceptional debut season with Manchester United. The talented Red Devils goalkeeper has been officially recognized as the “transfer of the season” in the highly competitive Premier League.
Lammens faced strong competition for the prestigious accolade, with a roster of notable nominees including João Pedro (Chelsea), Granit Xhaka (Sunderland), Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Adrien Truffert (Bournemouth), Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City), and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds).
The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who joined Old Trafford last summer from Antwerp for a fee of 21 million euros, seamlessly integrated into the demanding pace of English football. After making his first starting appearance in October against Sunderland, Lammens firmly established himself as a regular fixture in the Red Devils’ lineup, never looking back.
Throughout his inaugural campaign, Lammens featured in 37 matches, conceding 45 goals while impressively securing 8 clean sheets. His consistent performances proved vital for the team.
lauded by club legends
Lammens’ reliability and calming presence between the posts have been instrumental, positioning him as a key figure in Manchester United’s resurgence. The club concluded the Premier League season in a commendable third place, largely due to such steadfast contributions.
His exceptional form has garnered consistent praise from former Manchester United greats. Most recently, legendary defender Rio Ferdinand spoke highly of Lammens, envisioning a stellar future for him at Old Trafford. “He has been superb and he is young,” Ferdinand remarked. “That’s what I appreciate about him: he is young, he will continue to gain experience, and he will only get better from now on. I think he is destined to stay at Manchester United for the next ten years; he will become the number one.”
Before focusing on the next club season, Senne Lammens is set to experience his first World Cup this summer. While he is expected to serve as an understudy to Thibaut Courtois, Lammens’ long-term prospects for the Belgian national team appear incredibly promising for many years to come.
