Senegal pm faces parliament again in key accountability session

In a pivotal session of parliamentary oversight, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet ministers will face the National Assembly this Friday, May 22, 2026. The engagement follows a formal announcement by El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly, underscoring the legislature’s constitutional duty to hold the executive branch to account.

This structured dialogue between lawmakers and government officials will center on pressing national issues, including economic stability, inflation pressures, unemployment trends, and the progress of institutional reforms. Public policies currently in motion will also come under scrutiny as deputies seek clarity on the administration’s strategic direction.

Since assuming office in April 2024, Prime Minister Sonko has participated in four such accountability sessions, reinforcing this format as a cornerstone of Senegal’s parliamentary democracy.
