Prime Minister Sonko to face lawmakers in constitutional accountability session
Dakar — This Thursday, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his government will appear before members of parliament for a quarterly session devoted to answering pressing questions. The constitutional mandate to oversee executive actions and Article 104 of the National Assembly’s internal rules underpin this accountability exercise.
Procedural details and question allocation
The session, scheduled for 202 minutes, will feature fourteen distinct questions. Ten of these will be fielded by the Pastef-Les patriotes parliamentary group, which holds the majority. The opposition Takku Wallu group will submit two questions, while the remaining two will come from independent lawmakers not affiliated with any party bloc.
Transparency and governance under scrutiny
This accountability forum is designed to strengthen public trust by ensuring that government actions remain transparent and aligned with constitutional obligations. The session marks the fifth such meeting since Sonko took office as head of government.
The proceedings will be led by Ismaëla Diallo, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, who will preside over the exchange to maintain procedural fairness and decorum.
