The highly anticipated Serie A finale between Torino and Juventus hit an unexpected snag when clashes between rival fans forced officials to postpone the match.

The 38th and final matchday of the Serie A season was supposed to get underway at 20:45 this past Sunday. However, the Turin derby between the two historic rivals was delayed until 21:45 due to safety concerns following violent altercations between supporters outside the stadium.

The decision came after a Juventus fan was rushed to hospital in critical condition following the disturbances. The league had scheduled the match simultaneously with other crucial fixtures in Milan, Como, and Rome, all of which were pivotal in determining the final Champions League spots.

Juventus president and CEO Damien Comolli later revealed in an interview that supporters in the Juventus section requested midfielder Manuel Locatelli and his teammates not to take the field until they received confirmation about the injured fan’s condition. Comolli emphasized the club’s solidarity with its fans during this difficult moment.

With the match rescheduled for 21:45, both teams were preparing to face each other in what could have been a decisive game for Champions League qualification. However, the incident cast a shadow over the final moments of the season, highlighting the ongoing challenges of maintaining order during high-stakes football events.
