Vitinha named Champions League Final Man of the Match Following PSG’s Victory
Portuguese midfielder Vitinha was named the man of the match in the Champions League final after his club’s dramatic victory over Arsenal (1-1, 4-3 on penalties), securing an historic double.
Minutes after lifting the coveted trophy alongside his teammates, Vitinha received the well-deserved man of the match award. The recognition came as a fitting reward for his outstanding all-round performance, particularly in orchestrating the team’s buildup play. During the 120 minutes, he controlled an impressive 162 touches of the ball—a tournament record—and completed 141 of his 150 passes, demonstrating his technical mastery and tactical intelligence.
The UEFA technical observers praised his contribution, stating: “Vitinha was the best player on the pitch for Paris Saint-Germain this evening. He dominated the midfield, especially in the second half, driving the team forward and dictating the tempo of the game. It was an exceptional performance.”
The evening wasn’t without its setback, however. The 23-year-old international suffered an injury to his left leg in the 105th minute of extra time and was forced to leave the field, making way for Lucas Beraldo. The incident cast a brief shadow over an otherwise stellar individual display.
