A father’s urgent plea for enhanced security in N’Djaména, Chad, after son’s assault
Following a violent assault on his son near Camp 27 in N’Djaména, a concerned father has publicly challenged authorities on security failures, calling for greater citizen protection.
Mahamat Adam has voiced profound concerns to Chadian authorities following a brutal attack on his son, a young man in his twenties. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 15, 2026, around 10 PM, in close proximity to Camp 27. According to Mr. Adam, his son was en route to Amriguebé after departing the Farcha neighborhood when the aggression took place.
As he neared Camp 27, Adam Mahamat Adam was targeted by unknown assailants, leading to an accident. Despite the shock, he remained conscious and was promptly aided by sentinels from Camp 27. A police patrol then arrived on the scene, ensuring his urgent transport to the Central Hospital for medical attention.
During the intervention, law enforcement officers secured the young man’s motorcycle, which the attackers were unable to steal. However, the perpetrators managed to evade capture and fled the area.
While Mahamat Adam acknowledges these events, he strongly disputes the official interpretation. He expressed deep dissatisfaction with the sentinels’ explanation, which simply stated the suspects had escaped. For him, this account fails to grasp the severe nature of the incident and, more critically, masks a glaring lapse in public safety.
“This assault happened just meters from Camp 27,” he lamented. “It unequivocally demonstrates that citizens in Chad are not safe, even in areas presumed to be secure.”
The victim’s father is now making an impassioned appeal to the Ministry of Public Security, urging them to fully embrace their responsibilities and significantly enhance the protection afforded to all citizens. He firmly believes that no district should lack a visible and deterrent presence of law enforcement. The close proximity of this incident to a military installation, he argues, only amplifies the population’s anxiety and reinforces the urgent need for action.
As the investigation continues, the victim’s family awaits tangible measures and concrete responses from the authorities, beyond mere assurances.
