A new political movement, alternative credible, emerges in côte d’ivoire

Abidjan, July 5, 2026 – A fresh political entity, Alternative Crédible (ACR), has been formally introduced to the press, aiming to present a novel approach to governance. Leadership representatives unveiled the movement on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam.

Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary for ACR and was the primary speaker at the event, elaborated on the foundational principles, aspirations, and overarching vision of this new political force. ACR positions itself as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing Côte d’Ivoire.

Tano explained that this initiative first took shape on December 1, 2025. It originated from the collective desire of women, men, and young individuals from diverse backgrounds, all united in their commitment to introduce a new way of engaging in politics within the nation.

According to Tano, the establishment of ACR stems from a shared observation: despite its considerable human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include a high cost of living, widespread youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and significant social divisions.

Positioning itself as a left-wing political movement, ACR firmly asserts that it places human well-being at the core of its operations. Its ultimate vision is to forge a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and deeply respectful of the rule of law.”

Operating under the compelling slogan, “Demain se décide aujourd’hui” (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR is committed to championing a style of governance rooted in transparency, open dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the general interest. The movement’s long-term ambition is to consolidate the nation’s vibrant forces around a credible political agenda, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society for all Ivorians.

ACR’s leaders outlined the primary pillars of their political platform. These include fostering employment and entrepreneurship for young people, enhancing the national educational system, ensuring broader access to healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing the security of individuals and property, promoting women’s empowerment, actively combating the high cost of living, driving sustainable economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.

Oxyde Tano reiterated ACR’s openness to dialogue with all political and social stakeholders who share its fundamental values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He assured that the movement would pay particular attention to the concerns of youth, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.

The National Executive Secretary also announced that the movement’s official launch event is scheduled for August in Cocody. During this significant occasion, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally unveil the political vision and the key strategic directions of the movement’s program.

In anticipation of this ceremony, ACR plans to organize a series of awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and national campaigns aimed at mobilization and membership enrollment across the entire territory.

“The moment has arrived to pen a new chapter in our nation’s history,” concluded Oxyde Tano, reaffirming ACR’s profound ambition to contribute significantly to the construction of a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, stronger, and more prosperous.”
