Côte d’Ivoire’s digital education revolution: JOURIE 2026 kicks off in Abidjan
Abidjan — The Journées ouvertes pour l’utilisation de la recherche et de l’innovation en éducation (JOURIE 2026) launched today at the École nationale supérieure de statistique et d’économie appliquée (ENSEA) in Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training (MENAET), the two-day event centers on the theme: ‘Reinventing education through digital transformation: sustainable solutions for an equitable school system.’
Running until tomorrow, JOURIE 2026 aims to foster a culture of research-driven innovation, showcasing how digital tools and findings from scientific studies can elevate education quality across Côte d’Ivoire’s schools, colleges, high schools and universities.
Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategy, Planning and Statistics at MENAET, emphasized that this edition serves as a vital platform for collective reflection on how science and technology can reshape educational institutions. He highlighted the ministry’s commitment to bridging the gap between research outcomes and policy decisions, ensuring public strategies are grounded in robust data and thorough analysis.
‘JOURIE 2026 is a unique opportunity to present research findings, exchange practical experiments, unveil technological solutions, and foster dialogue among researchers, educators, policymakers and innovators on systemic challenges,’ Dr. Meité explained.
The Director reaffirmed the ministry’s vision to position digital technology as a catalyst for quality, equity and performance in the education sector. This year’s theme underscores the government’s resolve to harness science, innovation and digital tools to build an inclusive, high-quality education system accessible to all.
Launching the event on behalf of the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Training, Technical Advisor Kouadio Kouman stressed that JOURIE 2026 aligns with the government’s broader goal: to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices aligned with international standards.
‘The chosen theme reflects our conviction that digital technology is not merely a tool but a strategic lever—an accelerator for transformation that unlocks opportunities to build a more equitable, inclusive and high-performing Ivorian school system,’ Mr. Kouadio stated.
The event brings together researchers, teachers, innovators, public officials, technical partners, financial backers and other key stakeholders to explore how digital solutions can address governance, innovation, training, infrastructure and inclusion challenges in education.
