During a high-level meeting in Rabat on Thursday, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Adom, reaffirmed his country’s full support for Morocco’s royal-led initiatives aimed at accelerating Africa’s development.
The Ivorian diplomat emphasized that «Côte d’Ivoire not only endorses these initiatives but actively collaborates with Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s vision», following his discussions with Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.
Highlighting the depth of bilateral cooperation, Kacou Adom noted that «Moroccan private sector players are playing a pivotal role in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth, contributing to nation-building through dynamic investments». Both sides agreed to reconvene soon to assess progress within the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to inject fresh momentum into joint ventures and expand collaborative horizons.
Morocco acknowledges Côte d’Ivoire’s unwavering stance on the Sahara question
Nasser Bourita reciprocated by expressing Morocco’s deep gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent diplomatic backing on the Sahara issue. «Côte d’Ivoire has been a steadfast ally in this cause, one of existential importance for our Kingdom», he stated, adding that «this position has been warmly received by His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all sectors of society».
He further underscored the strategic value of Côte d’Ivoire as «a key bilateral partner and a benchmark African ally for Morocco», while acknowledging its regional influence in advancing royal initiatives, including the Nigeria-Morocco-Europe gas pipeline—a project His Majesty holds in high regard.
The pipeline, Bourita noted, is advancing toward realization after ECOWAS leaders endorsed the intergovernmental agreement establishing it. «This milestone brings the project closer to fruition, reflecting shared commitment to regional integration», he remarked.
A partnership rooted in shared vision and mutual growth
This meeting in Rabat serves as another testament to the robust and multidimensional ties between the two nations. From steadfast political solidarity on the Sahara to robust economic collaboration and alignment with Morocco’s continental projects, Côte d’Ivoire remains a cornerstone of Morocco’s strategic partnerships in Africa.
