The Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) in Côte d’Ivoire, which had consistently been a central point of political friction and an enduring source of disagreement between the executive branch and opposition parties, has now been officially dissolved. This pivotal announcement was made on May 6 by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly. He declared that this action “will usher in a new era,” underscoring that the overarching aim is to “sustainably ensure the conduct of peaceful elections” across the nation.
