Alfred Ikaka Bobe, CEO of Gabon Poste, announced on Tuesday that a new digital tool has been launched to assist savings account holders whose funds remain frozen. The application allows users to verify their names on the official list maintained by the liquidator without needing to visit a post office.
Accessible via computers or smartphones by visiting https://www.ccp.laposte.ga, the platform went live on Monday and quickly became overwhelmed after receiving over 10,000 visits within hours.
“The system has been upgraded and will be fully operational starting tomorrow”, Ikaka Bobe confirmed. Users are required to confirm their status as living depositors and may update their preferred payment location. The service also caters to those residing abroad.
Only individuals whose accounts were officially recorded by the liquidator—particularly those who lost their passbooks—should visit a post office branch to request a replacement.
This initiative follows the 2017 collapse of PostBank SA, a subsidiary of Gabon Poste, which left thousands of savers stranded. Despite repeated assurances from the previous administration under Ali Bongo Ondimba, authorities under the current transitional government declared in February 2025 their commitment to settling the outstanding debt.
Roughly 60,000 savers are estimated to be affected, with a total allocation of 31.212 billion CFA francs earmarked for debt settlement over three years, disbursed in annual installments.
