Gabonese diaspora in Madagascar discusses key concerns with vice president

During a recent official visit to Antananarivo, Vice President of the Gabonese government Hermann Immongault engaged in a direct dialogue with Gabonese nationals residing in Madagascar. Representing the President of the Republic at the 66th anniversary of Madagascar’s independence celebrations, Immongault prioritized connecting with the diaspora to address their most pressing concerns.

Community leaders highlighted critical challenges faced by Gabonese citizens in Madagascar. Key issues included the lack of a permanent consular presence, which complicates routine administrative procedures, as well as persistent difficulties for Gabonese students, such as delayed scholarship disbursements, recognition of academic institutions, and limited academic exchange programs. Additionally, the diaspora advocated for stronger economic ties between Gabon and Madagascar to unlock cross-border investment opportunities and support local entrepreneurship.
