The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a prominent member of Gabon’s presidential majority, has expressed its warm congratulations to President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his intense efforts and dedication to the nation throughout August. This endorsement was detailed in an official statement issued by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo.
Under the banner “From action to results,” the political party particularly lauded the newly unveiled measures for the national healthcare sector. They also highlighted the head of state’s active presence on the ground and his commitment to developing the country’s various provinces.
A massive financial boost for healthcare and infrastructure
The RPM highlighted the significant announcement made in Makokou on 30 August, which pledged 55 billion CFA francs to the health sector. This funding includes 44 billion CFA francs to upgrade national medical equipment, 6 billion CFA francs to reopen cafeterias within hospital facilities, and 5 billion CFA francs to support the Caisse nationale d’assurance maladie et de garantie sociale (CNAMGS). Recognizing these actions as direct solutions to public needs, the party called for their swift and effective implementation.
The statement also drew attention to the launch of several health, commercial, administrative, and defense facilities across Grand Libreville, alongside 17 major structural projects in the Ogooué-Ivindo province during the Liberation Festival in Makokou. To ensure development reaches beyond the capital, the party pointed to the Mayiga housing initiative, which has already completed 50 residential units, has 25 more under construction, and aims to deliver 500 fully serviced plots.
From promises to concrete proof
Reflecting on the celebrations marking Gabon’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the Liberation Coup, the RPM adopted the president’s own guiding principle: “The time for promises must give way to the time for proof.” Embracing this standard, the party insisted that the success of government programs must be measured by their direct, positive impact on the daily lives of the Gabonese people.
Furthermore, the group welcomed the official visit of Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which resulted in the signing of three key bilateral cooperation agreements.
The RPM encourages the administration to maintain this momentum, focusing on project completion, the long-term viability of new infrastructure, and youth employment. The party reaffirmed its loyal and responsible commitment to supporting all initiatives that foster national unity and modernization.
Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who currently serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM joined the coalition supporting President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema during the presidential election on 12 April 2025, while maintaining its political independence. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
