Mali’s Army Seizes Initiative in Fight Against JNIM and FLA

The Malian Army Regains Control

The Malian army has announced that it has regained the initiative and control of the situation in all areas targeted by the attacks carried out by the Azawad Liberation Front in the north and by the ‘Support of Islam and Muslims’ group linked to Al-Qaeda in the center and south of the country.

According to a statement from the FAMA, clashes resumed on Sunday at Anifif, about 110 kilometers south of Kidal city, after the arrival of human and material reinforcements for the Azawad Liberation Front.

The Malian army’s statement reaffirmed its ‘full confidence’ in the ability of the armed forces to defend national unity and territorial integrity, protect the population, and defeat enemy forces.

Despite the claims by the Azawad Liberation Front that it had gained control over Anifif, the Mali government maintained that its forces were in charge of the situation.
