Paris Saint-Germain concluded its Ligue 1 season with a 2-1 defeat against Paris FC on the final matchday, a fixture devoid of significant implications for the already-crowned champions. Attention now swiftly shifts to the impending UEFA Champions League final.
Following the match, PSG captain Marquinhos offered his reflections on the loss and provided an assessment of their Ligue 1 campaign, before outlining the team’s crucial preparations for the Champions League final.
“we have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for this final objective”
Marquinhos emphasized the importance of learning from every experience, particularly from a defeat. He candidly admitted, “We certainly didn’t play the match we needed to. We had to perform better, especially in the first half where we weren’t at our usual standard. We did manage to score in the second half, but we must keep pushing.”
He highlighted the upcoming preparation period: “We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for this final objective we have.” The captain also reflected on their recent title celebration, acknowledging the immense effort throughout the year in a league he described as “very difficult to win, especially this season.”
Looking ahead, Marquinhos stressed the significance of the Champions League final: “It’s an exciting end to the season, with many challenges still ahead for us. A Champions League final is one of the best things that can happen in a season. Playing in a final, this is my third here in Paris in 13 years, which really shows how challenging it is.” He concluded with a forward-looking statement: “Even though we lost today, we will take away things we can improve. Our coach will undoubtedly push us hard over these two weeks so we can improve for this Champions League final.”
