Under the guise of multi-level marketing companies, the suspects dangled the prospect of well-paying jobs abroad before desperate young job seekers. Their operations came to a halt when gendarmerie forces moved in to dismantle the network. The suspects now face legal consequences in the appropriate judicial forums.
Thirteen individuals linked to a human trafficking and fraudulent recruitment syndicate were publicly presented by national gendarmerie officials on June 22, 2026. The operation, conducted at the Yaoundé headquarters of the National Gendarmerie, was led by Deputy Director of Central Coordination Colonel Atangana Fiacre Kisito.
The criminal network, operating under aliases such as QNET, IGNITE, and UNIMEC, specifically targeted students, unemployed youth, and job seekers with false promises of overseas employment. While two alleged ringleaders are believed to have fled to the Congo and Central African Republic, the ongoing investigation spans multiple Cameroonian cities.
