Tchad: ISJCT and AMET forge strategic media training alliance

A landmark collaboration between Tchad’s leading journalism institute and media association will elevate professional standards and equip the next generation of journalists with essential skills.

ISJCT and AMET partnership signing ceremony

N’Djamena, 6 August 2026 – The Institut Supérieur du Journalisme et de la Communication du Tchad (ISJCT) and the Association des Médias en Ligne du Tchad (AMET) have formalised a groundbreaking partnership in the heart of Tchad’s capital. This alliance is set to bridge the gap between academic training and professional media practice, fostering long-term improvements in journalism standards across the country.

Bridging academia and industry through hands-on experience

The agreement outlines a structured pathway for ISJCT students to gain real-world experience through internships within AMET-affiliated media outlets. This initiative not only accelerates their professional integration but also strengthens the visibility of the institute’s programmes within Tchad’s media ecosystem.

Continuous learning: the cornerstone of modern journalism

Beyond internships, the partnership will launch a comprehensive professional development programme tailored for journalists, editors, newsroom managers, and media executives. Key training areas include:

  • Emerging journalistic methodologies
  • Digital journalism and multimedia storytelling
  • Fact-checking and information verification
  • Newsroom management and operational efficiency
  • Sustainable media business models
  • Artificial intelligence applications in journalism
  • Ethical reporting and editorial integrity
  • Journalist safety and risk mitigation

Voices of commitment: leaders speak on the partnership

Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, representing the ISJCT initiative, emphasised the critical role of collaboration: « A journalism school cannot thrive in isolation. Media organisations are our pedagogical partners, practical training grounds, and the future employers of our graduates. »

Bello Bakary Mana, President of AMET, highlighted the mutual benefits: « This partnership empowers media companies to shape the next generation of journalists while providing professionals with avenues to sharpen their skills. With ISJCT, the path to excellence is within reach. »

Building a centre of media excellence in Tchad

Supported by the NGO MEDEV and backed by the Swiss Cooperation, GIZ, and DW Akademie, ISJCT is poised to welcome its first cohort of students in October 2026. The institute aims to become a leading hub for initial training, research, innovation, and professional upskilling in journalism, communication, and media management.

Founded by MEDEV, ISJCT represents a strategic investment in Tchad’s media landscape, designed to cultivate a new generation of skilled professionals capable of navigating the complexities of modern journalism.
