Led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, a high-ranking Moroccan military delegation concluded a significant working visit to Nouakchott, Mauritania, on Tuesday.

During the visit, General Berrid was received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of Ambassador Hamid Chabar, Morocco’s envoy to Mauritania. The meeting underscored the depth of bilateral ties between the two nations, with discussions focused on defense collaboration and regional stability.

Later the same day, General Berrid visited the Ministry of Defense, where he was awarded the National Order of Merit (Commander grade) by Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi on behalf of Mauritania’s President. The prestigious decoration recognized the general’s contributions to strengthening military partnerships between Morocco and Mauritania.

The Moroccan delegation, alongside Mauritania’s Chief of Staff, co-chaired the sixth session of the Mixed Military Commission. The meeting reviewed progress in defense cooperation, with both sides highlighting the tangible outcomes of their strategic alliance. Officials praised the productive results, describing the partnership as a benchmark for effective military collaboration in the region.
