Rabat recently hosted the pivotal Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, a significant event orchestrated by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services (CCISRSK) in close collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Morocco and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This high-level gathering brought together a distinguished Indian delegation comprising 21 prominent business leaders representing key strategic sectors. They converged with Moroccan economic stakeholders from various industries, all focused on exploring avenues for establishing enduring partnerships and securing mutually beneficial investments.
A shared vision for economic prosperity
During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, emphasized the profound and long-standing friendship between Morocco and India, which has evolved into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership. In a statement delivered on his behalf, Sakhi highlighted that numerous high-level ministerial initiatives and strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the two nations underscore the dynamic political ties that bind them.
He further noted that the presence of such a diverse Indian business delegation, with leaders from sectors including automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, clearly demonstrates the increasing attention Indian investors are directing towards the Moroccan market. This burgeoning interest is particularly evident in the growing volume of bilateral economic exchanges, a dynamic Morocco is keen to bolster, recognizing India as a crucial trade partner with extensive technological and industrial expertise.
Unlocking new opportunities for collaboration
Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, expressed his conviction that Morocco and India possess the collective capacity to forge a powerful trilateral partnership encompassing India, Morocco, and the wider African continent. He lauded Morocco’s significant potential and vast capabilities, particularly highlighting the abundant opportunities available in areas such as renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. Puri underscored Morocco’s role as an ideal platform for businesses from both countries to implement joint projects and advance technological development.
The forum’s agenda featured an insightful institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. Attendees also viewed a documentary detailing Morocco’s business climate and the latest updates to its investment charter. A key outcome of the event was the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, designed to significantly enhance commercial exchanges, investment flows, and industrial partnerships between India and the dynamic Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. The forum concluded with a productive networking session and a series of B2B meetings, facilitating direct engagement between the participating delegations.
