The Mayor of N’Djamena, Mr. Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, led a significant delegation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, to inspect the currently compromised Hilton executive site. This crucial visit underscores the city’s proactive measures in flood prevention as the rainy season approaches in Chad.

During the inspection, Mr. Gadengar Roasna Rodrigue, Director of Urban Planning for the central municipality, emphasized the pivotal role of the Hilton executive site for N’Djamena. He explained that this infrastructure is vital for managing water flow, effectively channeling rainwater towards the river while simultaneously preventing river overflow from inundating the city during periods of high water. This strategic location is key to mitigating potential flood damage in the capital.

Mr. Rodrigue acknowledged that the structure has sustained minor damage, specifically noting the deterioration of the protective flap designed to counteract riverine floods. Despite this, he reassured the delegation that various preparatory activities are already in motion to reinforce the city’s defenses ahead of the imminent rainy season.

On site, Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye issued firm directives to the road maintenance department. He stressed the imperative need to implement all necessary measures to ensure the protective flap is repaired promptly within the coming days, highlighting the urgency of these repairs for effective N’Djamena flood prevention.
