N’Djamena’s strategic development gets boost with AMGT’s validated plans
The launch ceremony of the validation workshop for the AMGT’s strategic documents in Chad’s capital marked a pivotal moment for urban development and municipal governance.
The launch of the validation workshop for the strategic documents of the Municipal Agency for Major Works (Agence Municipale des Grands Travaux – AMGT) took place this Monday in N’Djamena. The event brought together municipal directors, technical leaders, city administration officials, and experts from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID).
The opening address was delivered by Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, Mayor of N’Djamena. He reflected on the significance of the recent inaugural meeting of the AMGT’s Board of Directors, which provided clarity on the agency’s mission, challenges, and objectives. “The AMGT was established to empower the city to design, plan, finance, and execute transformative projects that address the needs of residents while fulfilling N’Djamena’s development ambitions,” he stated.
With rapid urbanization, population growth, and pressing infrastructure demands—including sanitation and climate resilience—the Mayor emphasized the AMGT’s critical role in delivering essential facilities and services for sustainable urban growth. He urged participants to engage actively, sharing insights and recommendations to refine the draft documents.
The documents under review include:
- A comprehensive administrative, financial, and accounting management manual to streamline resource management and performance tracking.
- A monitoring and evaluation framework designed to enhance accountability and operational performance.
- A socio-environmental and gender management plan to embed sustainable development principles, social inclusion, equity, and environmental protection in all AMGT initiatives.
Mayor Abdoulaye stressed that the success of these efforts hinges on robust organizational structure, transparent governance, and rigorous procedural integrity—cornerstones for the AMGT’s long-term effectiveness.
