The Côte d’Ivoire insurance landscape mourns the loss of a titan: Maurice Digbeu Kipré, visionary founder and CEO of Serenity, who passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Abidjan at the age of 75.
a career marked by excellence and innovation
With academic roots spanning Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, Kipré launched his professional journey in 1979 at American International Group (AIG), where he honed his expertise in risk management and financial protection.
His leadership took a pivotal turn in 1988 when he was appointed Director of Insurance at the Côte d’Ivoire Ministry of Economy and Finance, shaping national insurance policies during a critical period of economic development.
From 1993 to early 2008, Kipré led CICA-RE, a reinsurance giant, steering the company through transformative growth phases before venturing into entrepreneurship.
building serenity: a legacy of trust
In November 2008, he founded Serenity, an Ivorian insurance powerhouse that quickly became synonymous with reliability and customer-centric solutions in the West African market.
His influence extended far beyond corporate boardrooms. As a cornerstone of the African insurance ecosystem, Kipré held pivotal roles, including:
- Membership in the Regional Control Commission of CIMA, ensuring regulatory integrity across francophone Africa;
- Executive committee member of the African Insurance Organization (OAA), championing continental collaboration;
- Board leadership at the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF), advocating for sector-wide advancement;
