Post-champions league victory: widespread incidents and arrests follow psg triumph

Following Paris Saint-Germain’s triumph in the Champions League final, numerous arrests were made across the capital, as tensions flared not only in Paris but also in cities like Bordeaux and Agen.

Authorities had prepared an extraordinary security operation for the evening of Saturday, May 30, anticipating either a victory or a defeat for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. A colossal force of 22,000 police and gendarmes was mobilized nationwide, with 8,000 specifically deployed within Paris and its surrounding metropolitan area.

Even before the final whistle, early signs of trouble emerged. By the afternoon, approximately 20,000 individuals had gathered at the Parc des Princes to watch the match broadcast. Initial confrontations between law enforcement and so-called ‘supporters’ near the stadium perimeter led to 20 arrests even before the main celebrations or commotions began.
