Rwanda meeting strengthens Côte d’Ivoire sports ties

The Rwandan President Paul Kagame welcomed a high-level Ivorian delegation led by Minister of State Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani on May 22 in Kigali. The meeting took place during the inaugural Basketball Africa League Investor Day, where Mr. Adjoumani represented President Alassane Ouattara.

According to an official communication, the discussions underscored the deepening partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Rwanda, as well as the shared outlook of both leaders on the continent’s future. The Ivorian delegation conveyed warm greetings from President Ouattara, reinforcing bilateral solidarity.

For Abidjan, this visit reflects a strategic push to harness sports as a driver of economic growth and regional cohesion. The Basketball Africa League was highlighted as a transformative force, capable of structuring the sports economy and attracting investment to create jobs and nurture African talent.

President Kagame also announced his upcoming official visit to Côte d’Ivoire, signaling further collaboration. The meeting epitomizes the shared ambition of both nations to build a dynamic, youth-focused Africa centered on continental unity.
