During a high-stakes session at the National Assembly addressing unnatural acts, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko delivered a resolute address this Friday, firmly defending the newly reinforced legislation targeting such offenses. Speaking during the Questions to the Government segment, he emphasized that the law will apply without exception, regardless of the perpetrator’s status or influence.
The Prime Minister’s statement carried a clear warning: no individual, no matter how powerful, will be exempt from scrutiny. His phrasing—“not even the big fish will be spared”—underscored the government’s uncompromising stance. Sonko made it unequivocally clear that the objective is nothing short of complete eradication of these acts across the country.
In a bold move, Sonko also addressed criticism from Western nations questioning the legislation. Rejecting any external interference, he asserted that Senegal answers to no foreign power. This declaration aligns with his long-standing sovereignist posture, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to domestic priorities over external pressures.
