Senegal’s opposition leader Ousmane Sonko has made a significant announcement through his official social media channels.

In his latest statement, Sonko revealed that he had held discussions with the President of Senegal regarding government formation. However, these talks failed to resolve key differences between both parties.

«This morning, a lengthy meeting took place between the President of the Republic and President Ousmane Sonko. While some areas of agreement were identified, significant disagreements remain—particularly concerning the role and position of the majority within the executive structure, whose exact composition remains unclear,» Sonko stated.

«Consequently, PASTEF-Les Patriotes will not participate in the next government and will not be represented by any ministers,» he added in the official statement.

Acting in a spirit of responsibility and in line with the commitments made by the Executive Committee (COMEX) of the Party, reiterated by President Ousmane Sonko during his installation at the National Assembly, PASTEF-Les Patriotes has engaged in multiple discussions with the President of the Republic regarding the formation of the new government.
