Abidjan, 13 juil 2026 – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, a prominent figure and former presidential candidate in the October 2025 election, along with his core team, is embarking on a significant new chapter in Côte d’Ivoire’s political landscape. Following a plenary assembly held in Abidjan on Saturday, July 11, 2026, a decision was made to initiate the formation of a new political party.
Attendees, comprising supporters and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign organizing committee, overwhelmingly endorsed a resolution to establish this new political entity. This move signals a determined effort to reshape the country’s political discourse.
The resolution emerged from the recommendations of a dedicated reflection commission. This commission, tasked with evaluating the movement’s future organizational prospects, presented a compelling report to the assembly. It strongly advocated for the creation of a structured political party to ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the initiatives championed by the former presidential contender.
Consequently, the assembly formally entrusted Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello with the mandate to spearhead the creation process for this new political formation. He is also tasked with organizing the pivotal “Congrès des Pionniers,” which is envisioned as the foundational event for the nascent party.
This strategic move marks a clear evolution, transforming the former candidate’s campaign apparatus into a fully-fledged political organization. The party aims to position itself as a dynamic force for progressive proposals, national unity, and democratic alternation. Its core tenets will encompass values such as democracy, social justice, robust governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and unwavering national sovereignty.
Following the assembly, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed his gratitude to the participants for their trust and outlined the broad vision for the political project. He extended a heartfelt invitation to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces across Côte d’Ivoire to join this endeavor, with the shared goal of forging a nation that is “more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign.”
Preparatory work for the “Congrès des Pionniers” is slated to commence immediately, with the official date for this crucial gathering to be announced in due course.
It is worth noting that Ahoua Don-Mello, previously a vice-president of the Parti des peuples africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), had been delisted from the party before his presidential bid.
